Mercedes Benz SL 65 AMG in 4.2 seconds.

by Peter Charalambous
Mercedes Benz SL 65 AMG in 4.2 seconds.

Any AMG is always eagerly anticipated and none more so that than the 6 litre sports coupe.

The top of the range Mercedes Benz SL 65 AMG boasts a staggering 0.62mph sprint, though what lies behind the old wolf in sheep’s clothing?

Primarily it’s the AMG 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine that produces 612 hp and with all that grunt the AMG SPEEDSHIFT five-speed automatic transmission a multi-disc limited-slip differential offers the unrivaled traction that limited its predecessor.

Although is the big Merc still disguised and understated?

With a “V12 BITURBO” lettering on the trim panels and front wings an AMG chromed twin sports exhaust the Merc makes its first statement.

The SL 65 AMG really distinguishes itself with the new AMG body styling including AMG bonnet and AMG spoiler lip as well as the beefy 19-inch AMG twin-spoke forged light-weight alloy wheels painted in titanium grey with a mirror finish that enclose the huge 390 x 36-mm brake discs.
