The Mercedes Benz CLS revamp.
by Peter Charalambous
The CLS has now been tweaked with a greater attention to detail retaining this four door saloon at the cusp of the market.
Most noticeably is the focus of the car, with a modified radiator grille, which has two rather than the previous four louvers so that the Mercedes three pointed star sits proudly.
The exterior reveals new exterior mirrors with integrated LED side repeaters and rear lights again using LED technology that benefit from the fast response and added style that they offer.
The interior has a newly designed leather steering wheel based on the Mercedes symbol; it rests of the three points with inbuilt multifunction buttons. The wheel itself surrounds the new-look instrument cluster.
The CLS takes advantage of the new-generation infotainment systems developed by Mercedes.
The unit has speed-sensitive volume control, a keypad for entering telephone numbers and radio frequencies, an MP3-capable CD and DVD player and a Bluetooth interface.
The Linguatronic voice-control system now features a 5-inch colour monitor and can be used for audio, navigation, telephone, a music library for MP3’s and has an SD memory card slot for increased connectivity on the move.
The hike in technology is also repeated under the bonnet as the CLS boasts the new V6 petrol engine.
The CLS 350 CGI uses the high-tech six-cylinder engine that has piezo-electric direct injection and a spray-guided combustion system that develops 292 yet has an impressive fuel consumption of 31 mpg.
