Mercedes M-Class facelift.

by Peter Charalambous
Mercedes M-Class facelift.

The Mercedes’ M-Class is set for a big date in Big Apple, as the 4×4 undergoes its mid life facelift, the result of which will be unveiled at the New York Motor Show next week.

The basis of the changes are found in the exterior styling as the 4×4 gains redesigned deep set bumpers, and new headlights that help to create a more distinctive and pronounced shape.

The safety features have been upgraded with the introduction of Mercedes’ latest PRE-SAFE and NECK-PRO technology.

The ML 63 AMG is more than just a new look, although the 08 model will noe have an even more extreme appearance with an outlandish AMG bodykit creating a lower meaner stance.

There is a choice of 6 petrol engines and 8 diesels, which makes buying an M Class one fraught with choices. The seven-speed auto gearbox makes acceleration both swift and effortless.

The entry-level petrol is 3.5-litre V6 that produces 272bhp which is ample for most but the most thrill seeking of driver who should opt for the added power of the 306bhp 5.0-litre V8.

There are two 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesels which offer 190bhp and 218bhp respectively.

Ironically the 4.0 V8 diesel is not only faster than the petrol V8 it also does an extra 200 miles per tank of diesel.
