Ove Andersson

Ove Anderson, born in Sweden, a pioneer in motorsport, has died, at the age of 70, engaging in a head on collision while competing in a vintage rally, the Milligan Vintage Trial.
Ove Anderson was a successful international rally driver, who later went on to be just that in motorsport management, in the Toyota Forumla one team.
Ove, was the strategy behind Toyota’s motorsport success for 30 years.
It was Ove’s second job that pushed him into motorsport, after studying engineering and working as a blacksmith Ove went onto work in an automobile repair shop.
The owner saw the potential stardom with Ove, and put the idea of racing into his head.
The years passed and after an amateur event with a friend, Anderson landed a factory drive in a Mini Cooper, for the 1963 Swedish rally, and went on to be signed for Saab for 1964.
After a varied stream of success, Anderson went on, in 2002, to become the first Head of Toyota’s Formula one team, but retired in 2003, choosing to work as a consultant for the years following.
Ove leaves behind a family consisting of his two sons, and a daughter.
