Ford Mondeo Coupé
by Grant Draper
The Ford Mondeo, possibly the most sought after family car as far as practicality vs value for money is concerned, will be revamped and released as an interpretation of the Mercedes CLS, offering tremendous style and luxury at an affordable price.
The new Coupé has a very sleek but defined look, something between a Mercedes and a Jaguar, and it definitely looks the part.
This is a total revamp of the current model, with larger lower grille, chrome-ringed triangular air intakes, bold extended wheel arches, hatchback tailgate and spacious interior.
Of course, all consumers are interested in is the equipment and its layout, so let’s start with a touch screen sat-nav package, Bluetooth wireless phone technology, keyless starting system and last but not least, Sport and Comfort suspension modes.
In the power department, Ford have dug out 175bhp 2.2 litre diesel and 217bhp 2.5-litre turbo petrol engines, which should do the trick, which incorporate start/stop technology to reduce CO2 emmissions, and improve economy.
The new Coupé is expected to be arriving some time in 2011, with a base price of £25,000, just a few pounds cheaper than the Mercedes CLS, not!
