Seat EXEO Saloon
by Grant Draper
SEAT has kept the development of its saloon project under wraps for quite a while, going by the code name ‘Bolero’, and the Spanish firm has now confirmed the name for its Saloon will be the SEATEXEO.
An unusual spelling and actually pronounced ‘Ex-ay-o’, the name represents the word from the Latin dictionary, Exire, which means to go beyond, or further.
SEAT has not made it in the Saloon market, tending to focus on the small coupe or hot hatchbacks.
Hopefully with a futuristic design and intriguing characteristics, SEAT’s EXEO could be as popular as other manufacturers’ similar saloons, such as the Ford Mondeo and the Vauxhall Vectra to name just two.
This should be a feasible goal, as SEAT has been working closely with engineers from the likes of Audi and Volkswagen, both currently big players in the saloon market.
This new development and new name, plays a significant part into the expansion of SEAT, since every release since 1981 has been named after a Spanish city, SEAT hope that new directions will give them new light.
Detailed specification and pricing is not yet available, all we know is it should reach UK shores in 2009.
