Greene King improves fleet safety

by Grant Draper

Well known brewer, Greene King, have reached a massive milestone on improving their fleet, by reducing crashes and total costs by £150,000 on previous figures, thanks to its in-house driver safety training.

Over a four-year period all drivers, which included around 500, whether it be company car drivers, LGV, HGV or any other category, all completed a series of assessments which Paul Blackman, the company’s safety supervisor, overlooked.

The assessments conducted took place in a three-hour slot, for every driver.

The efforts by Greene King have led to the company being marked as a business champion by the government for its ‘Driving for better business’ programme, which aims to increase similar activities which we can see happening at Greene King. Simple things like driver safety saves lives.

Greene King didn’t just change its ways for its employees, another reason may be the fact that 500 vehicles, including 271 company cars, can be expensive to repair after accidents.

This figure has increased over the years, but still the company benefits from financial savings due to the new driver awareness.
