Nissan Extends Scrappage
by Simon Harrison
Nissan got involved with the Scrappage Scheme straight from the offer. It allowed them to offer a bigger range of customers their vehicle range. Instead of keeping in line with the Government Scheme which will eventually be halted, Nissan will be extending their scheme a further three months.
The Government Scrappage Scheme is a nationwide affair. It allows people that own a car registered before 31 July 1999 to chop it in for £2,000 regardless of the state of repair. The Government stump up £1,000 and the manufacturer puts up the rest.
Nissan has taken this a step further by offering the full £2,000 to any consumer owning one of their British built cars that are eight to ten years old. This of course, includes the Micra, Note and Qashqai only!
They have chosen to extend the scheme right through to September. This is their attempt to retain and increase their UK market share. Alongside this, it will re-establish their UK based factories, providing a boost for the UK Car Industry. Many of Nissan’s vehicles are brought in from other countries, but it is advisable to choose with care, to get the best discount possible.
