Caravelle MPV and California campervan

Caravelle MPV and California campervan

With the credit crunch setting in, all manufacturers are trying to revamp their range to meet consumer’s financial requirements. Of course in some cases this means downgrading the quality of the current vehicle. Luckily, Volkswagen has not had to do either with the Caravelle MPV and California campervan. They will both be unveiled for the first time at the Frankfurt Motor Show which will start next month.

Of course, as they are so close to their release dates, it isn’t likely that Volkswagen will release any more details. So far they have just released images, which show that both models show some resemblances to the likes of the Polo and Golf, which are both, extremely popular in their own right.

This means that they will be using a two litre TDI turbo diesel engine, which is available with power out puts in between 83bhp and 178bhp. Consumers will have the choice of either the standard setup of a manual gearbox and six speed transmission, or seven speed semi automatic which will power all four wheels, although the seven speed won’t be introduced until a later date.

Both are expected to go on sale by January 2010.
