Peugeot RCZ production car
by Grant Draper
It is hard to think that the Peugeot RCZ concept is actually two years old. It is definitely about time Peugeot got their act together and got some sort of a production car ready. Well, the Frankfurt Motor Show seems like the best place for them to be showing off their new and ready production RCZ.
It is likely that we won’t get wind of the full details for a while, although there are plenty already out in the open. According to Peugeot, the 2+2 coupé will be the first to go on sale next spring. Potential consumers will be given the option of three different engines, which include two different turbocharged 1.6-litre THP petrol engines. These will product 156bhp and 200bhp respectively.
If they don’t take your fancy, then maybe it would be worth trying the 163bhp two-litre HDi turbo diesel.
If you are looking for speed, then the 200bhp vehicle is definitely the one for you. Of course, the emphasis these days is on fuel economy, so the HDi might be a good option, seems as though it produces 52.3mpg and just 139g/km.
It isn’t the norm for Peugeot to be building such a vehicle, so they will be outsourcing the manufacturing to Magna Steyr which is based in Austria.
