The machine shop called today..................
The cylinders are out of round, meaning that it'll have to be bored to get them true again. Cha-ching, cha-cing!!!! Now I have to find some new pistons to fit.

you should now consider running O/S pistons for more gain.

Ya that's great, with one exception.Try and find a place in which you can trust; especially when it comes to a performance place.

Defcon Racing
www.defcon-racing.com

2 of the best in the greater toronto area

there is a lot of information out there....places like honda-tech.com, and torontocivics.com's performance section have a shitload of useful info....

both places stated above should be able to offer advice and tips regarding your rebuild

goodluck and enjoy...that is one fierce engine you will have

i have rebuilt a few i brought the idea of ls/vtec to montreal years ago i was the one of the 1st to have one since then my mechanic has rebuilt hundreds of them we have done several weight test with original parts to aftermarket ans we always stuck with honda or acura parts i used a 1990 blocj 1.8 with p 30 pistons out of and japanese integra port polished a 1992 gsr head no cams the rest was stock with ls tranny no slicks or clutch thats it i ran believe it or not 13.53.104.5 mph quarter mile no one wanted to lend me there slicks taht day and still to today guys are still running actually slower than that with type r everything one of my buddy's had 9 grand oput in his and only ran 13.02 at 103 mph so if u have any questions don't be shy don

Hey S2ks4, did you keep the stock connecting rods? I've heard horror stories of people not having self control and they end up blowing up the motor b/c the block is still stock ls. The ITR and GS-R gear ratios are closer than the LS, RS, or GS, but I didn't think the LS tranny would be able to stand up to the extra power. How long did it last?

Update:
Here's the begining of what will be an expensive rebuild.**I ended up going O/S pistons because I couldn't find any stock O/S in 81.5mm.**The only choices I had were all aftermarket.**I figured since I'm upgrading the pistons, I might as well go all out on the bottom end. I have some eagle rods coming in the mail too.

BTW, I've also decided to go 5 speed too. Since I'm upgrading the internals to take the extra boost the next weakest link is the auto tranny, so the search is on for those parts too. I've already picked up an ECU with programmable chip.
