Decided to put a navi thread in this section, since its a visual thing?

Do you have navi (or have you ever had it on a vehicle) and did you like it?

I think its still too expensive to be worth while, if you know how to read a printed map and do a bit of scouting on Google Maps before you leave home, you should be all set.

For $2000-$3000 I'd rather buy a turbo or some nice rims and a body kit...

yeah that's true... but i mean, if you got the money to burn, go for it... it's a neat little toy... but i mean... mapquest or google maps is definatly better by far money wise... convenience wise though the navi is good, and looks as well... :P

I had an Alpine navi system on my old ride. Very useful since I drive a lot and I do a lot of road trips. The only thing was the price, with the touchscreen and the navi unit, it came to about $3000. Wiring was nighmare too since it has to be spliced to the car's ECU (speed sensor and reverse lights..etc.) It was worth it though.

The only bad thing was, it is not portable, which means, it stays in one car. Since I can't transfer the navi to my new civic, I just bought a portable one. Works just as good, though the software is not as "smart" as the Alpine's. I bought a Mio 172 <- I think. I am just waiting for a better portable system, I might upgrade to the Alpine's portable gps system.

yeah, my clarion one installed was $3100... and it didn't have navi... haha... or, maybe it's navi capable, i don't know, i can't remember... haha... no wait, there's no navi on it, and was still $3100... i wish i can get rid of it for parts... haha... then just buy like either the pioneer avic-n2 or just a normal pioneer deck for the sub controls

what's a m-a-p??

Lol, a couple days ago I was picking up my friend @ his GF's house...I had an address but didn't know where it was. So I looked it up on Google Maps 10 mins before I left and found it without a hitch.

Cost = $0

I want to get a Pioneer AVIC-S1 for my Accord (similar to a TomTom or a Garmin C330)...however like many of you have said the price just doesn't make it worthwhile yet. Futureshop and Bestbuy are selling it for $699 right now, and basically I'm waiting until I can get it in the $300-400 (with taxes) range before I may go out and get one (probably 1-2 years or so).

I don't have it on my car. But always thought that I would like it. The only thing is I am not very good at reading maps so it would not help me much.
