Default Power locks

I have power locks on my car and one of them stopped working. I called around too see how much it would be to have it fixed. And I could not believe it> It was between Three and four hundred dollars. Does any one know is it hard to do it yourself?

shouldn't be hard.

knowing my car and what usually would fail, i would go to a junkyard and mind a vic with the same interior as me. then i would remove the switch pad from the arm rest on the door.

i could swap between the two cars in about an hour.

see, what usually happens is moisture gets under the switch during winter or rainy days. this creates oxidation under the switches. so, usually replacing the pad will fix it.

I did just what bigjon said. All by myself on a Pontiac Aztek a few years ago. And I am not mechanically inclined at all. It worked really well. And so much cheaper.

Like that said, I wouldn't think it would be hard. You could just reverse the steps you take to pull it out when you get ready to put it back in. I know there are lots of places within 60 miles here that will give you most anything off any junker on the lot, for super cheap.. I think you could probably do it yourself for less than $100 for sure.

Well,it not that difficult really, you have to disassemble the door, and on some models that can be a task by itself. If you know what is wrong already, then just replace the part that is bad. If you still have to figure that out, you will need to diagnose a possible electrical problem, again not so easy.
