I am already hearing some squealing noise on the rear part of my brake system and with this I really need to replace some parts of it.
What do I need to check? Oh by the way, my car is a Saturn 2000 LS series, and I think I'm already running near 10k mile. |

(Assuming you have 4 wheel disc brakes)If the squealing has just started and is only when you apply the brakes, then that is most likely just the wear indicator. That means that you will probably just need new brake pads. If you have to replace them, look at the rotors to make sure there are no deep grooves and that they aren't warped. Also, glance at the rubber boot on the wheel cylinder. Make sure that it isn't torn or leaking. Look at the brake line (rubber) and make sure it isn't leaking or worn. Usually if there's a leak, it'll be really noticeable.
Before you replace the brake pads though, make sure that the e-brake isn't sticking. Other than that, it's usually pads. GL (oh, and by the way, I suggest using ceramic brake pads, less noise and less dust, at least use them in the front ) |

if they are not 'ready' to be replaced, they are probably glazed over. then you can either live with the noise or replace again with some better quality parts.
i too, recommend ceramic on the fronts. only buy american or canadian made rotors. |

That is not very many miles for an eight year old car, if that is the true mileage, the brakes are probably just rusty from not being used. You should have them checked anyway, by a professional.

Most likely it is just the belts....but check out the pulley, it could be loose. I had mine fixed at garage, they fixed it alright, well, I had to take it back 3 times, all they did after changing the belts was tighten the belts. They made it worse. I found out later, it is the pulley loose.

I do seconded of what bighjon says. Try to buy american or canadian made rotors because they are good quality. |
