306 cant go topless??

please help, my roof is not working on my pug 306 rag top, fuse is ok, switch is ok cos i tried my mates in place of mine and it still didn't work, i have 12v dc going to the relay on the roof motor, but nothing else, went to peugot quoted £35 + the dreaded for a new relay and the mechanic said he didn't think it would be the relay as he'd never known one to need relacing, surprise surprise he was not to helpfull to tell me what else it could be as he was offering to look at it for me at the bargain price of £60 per hour!!! I know my way around a multimeter but could do with some help in where/what to look for... any help would be greatly appreciated, Paul...

I'm not really familiar to the 306(Peugot), but here are some general things to check:

Are you getting voltage at the motor?
Can you hear the motor kick in when you push the button?

If you get no voltage at the motor, it will be the relay.

If you don't hear the motor trying, then it could be the motor (make sure you get voltage first though). (The buzzing from the motor won't be loud, but if you have the motor visible, you should notice a noise from it)

I'll look up how to test that relay, can you get me a PN or something, so I know what kind of relay I'm looking at?

(I'm pretty sure of the one, I just want to give you the right diagram)

hi there, the part number on the relay is cb1-r-12v. thanks very much for your help. reguards paul.
