Default Regular CDs vs. MP3s

I've heard some people claim to be able to tell the difference while listening to regular CDs as opposed to MP3 files.

I thought cars would be a good place to test this, since the driver's always in the same location with respect to speaker placement.

So, can you tell the difference between MP3s and regular CDs in your car stereo?

i can.

mp3's usually end up sounding tinny. compare for yourself you will see.

i use sony minidisc players as my recorder. atrac is a much better format for compressed music.

if you feel like experimenting. listen to 164mb of both formats of the same song and see the differences.
