Default got some sound upgrades

so I decided to get my stereo upgraded

when I bought the car the stereo consisted of an alpine 9833 running a pair of Phoenix Gold saphire components in the front door running off the deck, it was in serious need of an upgrade.

I have no problems installing a stereo, but all my installs have consisted of drop in components in the stock places and an mdf box of some sort in the trunk, I wanted something a bit fancier than my skills would allow so I decided to seek "professional" help.

I took my jetta to Innovation Autosports in regina SK. since some of the past work I've seen from there really impressed me.

I ended up keeping the deck for now to keep costs down, but it will be replaced with something that matches the dash better later.

as for equiptment, I went with a pair of macrom extreme series 6" components, a pair of Hertz audio Hi-energy series 8 inch woofers, a pair of Aura sound Bass shaker Pro tactile transducers and a JL audio 500/5 amp to power it all.

the installer hand made the front grilles from an old chunk of aluminum and a paif of focal grills he modified and put the macrom "M" on.

he also sandwiched a plexi ring between the spkrs and grills with red LED's mounted in it so it glows red at night and matches the dash lighting. It also glows red around the subs and amp too.

I got them to install my AEM wideband in the ashtray and relocate my OBD II port under the heater controls in the factory Euro spot so it's a little easier to do data logging with vagcom.

I forgot to take pics of the gauges and night lighting, but I'm 800km away from it now so I'll get some later.

sorry for the novel, I'm at work so I'm bored and missing my car

This is a really nice clean set up.. I love it. I'm thinking of getting something custom fiberglassed for some woofers.. but since my Jetta is still a daily driver, and I still want to be able to use the trunk, with some considerable space left over.

just curious - what made you go with a pair of 8's and not a single 12?

Clean install in the trunk!
Not really feeling the chrome rings/bolts on the door speakers though. Do you have any photos of the wideband placement?
