There's a minivan/cab up here in Yellowknife that has a 13" T.V mounted in the rear upper left-hand corner of his van. It points forwards so he can watch it through his rearview mirror. Apparently you cant have a tv forward of the front seats.
nice loop hole I'd say

In BC it is illegal to have a tv or dvd player operating in the front while the vehicle is operating. Of course it's common to see these guys driving around with the tv's on and just a matter of time before it's the cause of a crash.

IMO, I don't like them up front, but cool to have em in the back for passengers.

I agree having a tv in your car could cause an accident. But when traveling a long way with kids it could come in handy.

A dvd player is great with kids. Especially if they dont tend to travel well and there is a long journey ahead. I also used it last summer when I was pregnant and working. I would waddle out to my car and watch a little bit of a movie on my breaks and lunch when I was feeling antisocial and irritable.

Well, why not - you can at least "listen" to your favorite shows while you drive.

Also a good point. When I was using mine on breaks a lot last summer I remember complaining to my husband that I wish it had a tuner in it so I could catch up on my shows that I like to watch. LOL.

in my state (I b/l in most states) it's illegal to have an in-dash DVD player operating while driving. The screens behind the driver are ok, but the dash can't be playing and is usually wired (if done by a professional shop) to the parking mechanism and will only show video when parked. At least that's how my friends' cars were wired. I would only put a TV in my car for show or navigation. My car is going to be a street/strip, so it'll have a laptop mounted in it, most likely with a DVD player, but not to use for much else than fuel management.

We have a dvd player in our Durango because I have a 17 month old that I have to take to the doctor 4+ hours one way sometime 2-3 times a month. Needless to say, my 3 year old and 6 year old are pretty easily bored with just riding that often. I also have a 9 week old and it helps that the others aren't being loud.
